Automobile insurance - Basic Coverage
Civil Liability (CHAPTER A)
Civil liability insurance guarantees that material or physical damages caused to others by the car driver or its passengers in an accident will be compensated. In Quebec, this insurance is mandatory for a minimal amount of 50 000$.
Lareau Insurance Brokers offers you a minimal amount of 2 000 000$ in civil liability to protect you against unforeseen events.
Protection Against Collisions and Other Situations
This protection covers any material damage done to the vehicle of the insured. It is not mandatory but strongly advised. As opposed to civil liability, a deductible - a specific amount of money you have to pay from your pocket - applies when you make a claim after an accident for which you are responsible.
This insurance offers four types of warrantees:
- All Perils (chapter B1): it covers any damage caused to your vehicle no mater who is responsible and even if this person has not been identified. This also includes warrantees 2 and 3, but does not cover exclusions.
- Collision Coverage (chapter B2): it covers any damage caused to your vehicle if you are responsible for the collision.
- Comprehensive Coverage (chapter B3): it covers any damage caused to your vehicle, except for collisions and other exclusions.
- Specified Perils (chapter B4): it covers only certain risks such as fire, robbery and vandalism.
